Media

Many people know Britain because of the British Broadcasting Corporation, which beams its world service throughout the world in thirty-three different languages. It is a publicly funded body, paid for by television licences and has a public mandate dictating what sort of programmes it should produce. Britain also has a healthy newspaper industry, which has survived well, despite the advent of the internet. More and more commercial radio and television channels are coming to life, complimenting the output of the BBC.
